Alex Mahon is a British television executive, best known as the first woman to serve as CEO of Channel 4.
As CEO of Channel 4, Alex Mahon made history as the first woman to lead a major UK broadcaster and transformed the organisation into a digital-first public media entity. Her leadership focused strongly on fostering diversity, equitable representation and creativity behind the scenes, while steering the company through eight years of intense scrutiny and disruption. After leaving Channel 4, she joined leading live event and festival company Superstruct Entertainment as CEO.
Alex’s career path is notably diverse, having worked as a scientist and a kitchen porter before moving into television production. She began her TV career at Talkback Thames and FremantleMedia, before going on to lead several creative production companies with an emphasis on growth and global expansion, most prominently as CEO of Shine Group, producers of hits such as MasterChef and Broadchurch.
