Brian Cox is a Scottish physicist, broadcaster, and science communicator.
Professor Brian Cox is widely recognised as the UK’s most prominent experimental physicist. Known for his books and television programmes that have captivated global audiences, he has played a central role in making science engaging and accessible to millions. With his relatable and enthusiastic approach, Brian is often described as a “rock star scientist,” a nod to his earlier career as a professional musician. He is Professor of Particle Physics at the University of Manchester, a Fellow of the Royal Society, and The Crick Scholar at the Francis Crick Institute in London, and was part of the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
Brian’s presentations, delivered at venues from TED in the United States to the World Economic Forums in Davos and China, are renowned for their ability to engage, inform and entertain. They combine striking visuals of the cosmos with his trademark passion for science, as he explores the narrative of life, the universe and everything in between. He champions the idea that science can unite humanity through a shared quest to understand our origins and answer enduring mysteries, drawing on his work at CERN, where cutting-edge technology recreates conditions from fractions of a nanosecond after the Big Bang.
His talks also explore topics such as black holes, which he considers the most fascinating objects in existence, and the conditions on Mars that may have supported the origin of life around 3.5 billion years ago.
