Q&A with Evolve, The UK’s Shadow Show Team
26 July 2022
What makes your act special/different from similar acts?
We produce corporate-themed shadow shows, all of which can be tailored to include the client’s story and finish on their logo. So it looks like the entire show has been created specifically for that client and their event. And then of course we make entirely bespoke shows where we work with clients to showcase their unique story!
How did you get into the industry?
I was a competitive gymnast for 10 years in Australia. I came to the UK and trained further in aerial skills and acrobatics, performing at live events world-wide for 2 decades! I’m now a producer, choreographer and director of shadow shows which I love.
How long have you been performing?
Over 20 years! Wow where did the time go?
Where are you based?
We’re a British team and travel all over the UK and abroad!
What is the furthest you have traveled for a performance?
We’ve performed in Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Doha, Dubai, Zanzibar etc! Not got as far as Australia yet but that’s the dream!
An interesting fact about you/tell us something we wouldn’t know
I’m a creator so spend my spare time designing and re-designing rooms in my house. My favourite is the vintage, jungle-safari themed dining room! Complete with vintage aeroplane shelf, large vintage lamp stands, industrial/urban furniture, mature plants, window seat and did I mention plants?
What’s the coolest/best/most interesting event you’ve worked on?
It’s always interesting creating a new show for our clients. The feedback and audience reaction always inspires us to develop our skills further. A few of our best include –
Pirelli at the Roundhouse – “Perfect artistry”
Anglo American at Banqueting House – “Absoloutely blown away!”
BITC at Royal Albert Hall – “So grateful for your creativity, inspiration and performance”
Favourite venue you’ve worked at?
Royal Albert Hall is my personal favourite but also Wembley Stadium performing at the Diana tribute was a definite highlight
What is your favourite part of performing?
Working with our team. They’re friendly, fun, adaptable, reliable, hard-working, consistent and highly skilled.
What is the most interesting reaction/best feedback you have had from your audience?
Both British Airways and Air France have repeat booked us for their events which is the ultimate feedback for us! I love the quote from UEFA “You WOWED UEFA” Or perhaps the one from Barclays just prior to lockdown and the end of live events which inspired us in difficult times, “They were cheering you long after you left the stage”.
